The Captain’s Log – Going for the 3peat

The Captain’s Log- Going for the 3peat

It turned out my sideboard from the last event would have been more fitting for this week’s metagame. Here is the list I ran. Continue reading The Captain’s Log – Going for the 3peat

The Captain’s Log – Building a RUG Sideboard

The Captain’s Log – Building a RUG Sideboard

Last week I took you inside my list for RUG Delver. While some might think it’s a pretty standard list, there were a few variations that I think gives it the edge it needs in the current metagame. This week I will be discussing my sideboard choices and why I chose them. Since Legacy is an ever evolving format with so many different decks it is important to have a versatile sideboard that can be used in many different scenarios and not just in one matchup. While some sideboard slots I believe are rock solid and should not be changed in the current metagame there is some flexibility and room to change others. I have spent many hours tuning and adjusting my sideboard and I am happy where it is at now. Continue reading The Captain’s Log – Building a RUG Sideboard

The Captain’s Log – Paolo Cesari’s RUG Delver

“The Captain’s Log”

Hello all, my name is Paolo Cesari. Some of you may be thinking “why are you writing this article?” Well with my recent success at the Jupiter Games NELC circuit there has been some interest in my deck lists and thoughts. Continue reading The Captain’s Log – Paolo Cesari’s RUG Delver

Cook’s Kitchen – NELC (10/20/2012): 4th Place

Cook’s Kitchen – NELC (10/20/2012): 4th Place

On the way back from Providence the weekend before the NELC, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to play the next weekend at the NELC. I ran down the gauntlet of decks that I could possibly build, what I felt comfortable with, and what was good in the metagame. My experience with Maverick the month prior wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for. I decided in the current format it’s probably better to have some interaction with all of the Show and Tell combos running rampant. This meant running some sort of black and or blue. I decided to do both. Continue reading Cook’s Kitchen – NELC (10/20/2012): 4th Place

Cook’s Kitchen: Delving Into Providence- SCG Standard Open Top 4 With UW Delver

A couple Thursday nights ago I went to the local gaming store for some Legacy. I’ve been playing a different deck every week and decided to play with T.E.S. to get some of the rust out. Unfortunately, not enough people showed up for an event. Which has been a trend due to warmer weather, in months prior the Syracuse events were anywhere between 15-24 people. I sent out a text message to a few people on opinions on my current Delver list below, I knew it was time to cut Feeling of Dread. It was good when I top 8’d in Baltimore but has been lacking recently. Continue reading Cook’s Kitchen: Delving Into Providence- SCG Standard Open Top 4 With UW Delver

Cook’s Kitchen – Avacyn Restored

I’m sure many of you are aware that spoilers from Avacyn Restored have started!  I love spoilers, every once in a while there’s something great for Legacy or Standard. But more importantly and more likely there’s something to slip into Commander. Well so far, there’s nothing for Kresh the Bloodbraided or Godo, Bandit Warlord but there are some potentially playable Legacy cards! A few of them have a new ability called “Miracle”: Continue reading Cook’s Kitchen – Avacyn Restored

Cook’s Kitchen – Preparing for Baltimore

The hotel has been booked. I can feel the excitement growing within me for this upcoming weekend. There’s something about traveling to events that just makes me anxious. I love going to different places, always have, it’s probably from moving a lot as a kid – let’s blame it on that. While traveling to Grand Prix: Indianapolis was fun, my car didn’t really get to experience Indy as we should have. Our hotel was about 5 miles outside and we ate both nights at the restaurant literally ten feet away from our hotel. Experiencing places is always fun and interesting. While this upcoming trip to Baltimore may not be a “new” place for me, it’s certainly a place I’m unfamiliar with. I’ve been there once at the beginning of last summer with the same three guys I’m traveling down with again.  This trip is going to be better than the last for one simple reason – there won’t be any Mental Misstep. Well… at least in Legacy. No promises for Standard. I’ve been playing UW Delver since I wrote about it here. Some of the lists may have incorporated Misstep, I’m not too proud of it, but the one I’m playing this upcoming weekend doesn’t! Continue reading Cook’s Kitchen – Preparing for Baltimore
